The Challenge
Pumps consume electrical power, in continuous process industries they consume power continuously.
In Northern Ireland the cost of power is always highlighted to a barrier to investment.
In addition most large organisations have a very strong environmental agenda and not only does high power consumption cost them hard cash, excess power consumption is not compatible with carbon reduction.
Pumps may be in operation for 20 years or more and the technology available then is very different from that available today. Considering that the electrical consumption cost of a pump during its life is 85% of the overall cost, what should be done?
Our Solution
The first stage is to identify how much power is used over the period of a year by the pumps in a building. Many organisations currently do not know what this figure is. They often only have an overall cost of energy figure, as pumps are often not easily seen, unlike lights or heating systems. Many organisation have new LED lights installed, but really heavy pump power consumption.
We audit the pumps on site, based on hours run and size of motors etc, calculate the current efficiency and compare this with the best of the new innovative pumps, then make the energy saving summary calculation if new pumps were installed and offer the client the data which includes the energy saving in lower carbon emissions and the associated cost reduction over the average pump lifetime. These typically offer capital payback from 2 to 5 years.
We guarantee these savings, so there is no downside for the customer.
Our Customers
These surveys have been carried out all over the world, but locally we have done these calculations in Pharmaceutical Industries, Council Buildings, Hospitals, Glass bottling plants and Concrete industry sites etc.
To date all of the surveys we have done, have generated significant cost savings and the reduction in carbon emissions. Customers have nothing to lose as we provide this as a free service to our client base. The environmental benefits alone make this a worthwhile exercise, but the cost savings are substantial.
